Wendy's Story
Well, that day has come at last. I met my birth mother last Friday, as well as one of my sisters, two of my nieces, and two great-nieces. Can you believe it? I have also talked on the phone with two of my other sisters, who do not live locally. I have been welcomed warmly by all.
It was wonderful to be able to meet with my birth mother, and be able to tell her that I feel she made the right decision for me and that I respect and love her for all the courage it took to make that choice.
I apparently have a huge birth family scattered all over the U.S. My nieces are hoping to put together a family reunion this summer up near Lodi, where they live.
I am glad I pursued my search to find my birth family. It's amazing the similarities there are between my birth mother, sisters, and I, which is really gratifying, since I have never known a resemblance to anyone in my life before.
My sister presented me with a rose called "Rainbow's End" because she said this is the end of a long journey. I think it is only the beginning.
Toby, thank you for finding all these wonderful people for me. You have a special gift. You are able to give those adopted a chance to find themselves. I didn't think it was possible and it has made an enormous difference in how I perceive myself, knowing from hence I came into this world.
Again, thank you.
Wendy
